| 1947 Ford Deluxe Hot Rod - Carson Top |
|
1947 Ford Deluxe Pro Street Carson Top. Older custom job built in Alberta but cared for extremely well over the years. Said to be the first Carson Top car in Canada back in the 80's with lots of albums and pictures showing the build progress. The car started life as a light blue business coupe and was chopped down to what you see now. Riding on a fully customised square tube frame chassis painted to match the exterior along with the 427-engine block, which came out of a 69 Corvette. Its topped with a high-rise intake and Edelbrock carb. Big headers let it breathe through dual exhaust, and its got a healthy bark to it! Behind that is a 3-speed TH-400. Power steering car, manual brakes, but with discs up front it stops well thanks to recent brake renovations. The car was always the maroon color you see and features a gold base, giving it the very unique candy effect, but about 10 years ago the original owner had the car re-sprayed and the flames were added. The monotone effect covers the entire car with no visible chrome or stainless trim apart from the centerline wheels with absolutely gigantic, huge boots on the back! The car is chopped, and lots of the features are frenched in including the license plate, taillights and radio antenna. The exhaust exits centrally out the back! The interior is a nice place to spend time with custom door cards, leather seats and carpets all done in a nice medium grey. Most of the interior components are late 70s vintage including the steering wheel, door handles and power window switches and cruise controls. One of the first available aftermarket digital instrument clusters was installed in this car. Theres no odometer, so milage is unknown. A vintage cassette stereo is central in the dash and theres also hidden heater controls. The trunk is finished very similarly to the interior with the battery and fuel cell back there too. The stories go that the original owner and builder drove the car across a lot of north America, specifically into Washington many times towing a fiberglass Boler trailer painted to match. The current owner shared a memory of when he was 20 years old, pulling up next to the 47 with the Boler hitched up to it, and watching the whole rig light up the tires and burn rubber for half a block when the light turned green all while towing! Other stories include the first owner driving to car shows in the states, taking off the convertible Carson top and hauling it up to his hotel room in the elevator while he had the car on display at the show! Needless to say, but the car has plenty of years and miles under its belt. Its certainly a proven driver with lots of history. Thanks to recent carb work, its running and driving great. Time to make some more memories with someone new!
