Here is a very stretched-out car from the sixties: a 1963 Pontiac Catalina 421 Super Duty Tribute. It may be hard to park, but it is very fun to cruise. The black paint pairs nicely with the chrome trim. The body lines are straight, and the body panels, hood, deck lid, and roof all look very good for their age. Both the front and rear ends are in good shape. All-in-all, this is a very nicely done older restoration.
The interior is immaculate. The two-tone Marron vinyl split-bench front seats and rear bench seat look great, with white vertical stripes and Pontiac badges. The door panels and dashboard look outstanding, as do the door jambs and door sills. The carpets fit well and are protected by Pontiac rubber floor mats. A Pontiac tachometer is off to the left of the battery gauge, fuel gauge, and speedometer, and are all very readable. There's a clock, heat controls, and a radio in the middle of the dashboard, with a Sears A/C unit mounted under the dash. An aftermarket radio is installed under the passenger seat to control the tunes. The trunk looks very clean and still has a spare tire for emergencies.
This big vehicle needs a big engine to move it, and that's exactly what it gets. A 421 cubic-inch V8 is nestled between the fenders of this Catalina. The engine connects to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, said to have been rebuilt with a clutch replacement in the spring of 2025. The suspension uses coil springs, shocks, and a sway bar in the front, with coil springs and air shocks in the rear. Eight-lug 14-inch wheels with shiny Pontiac center caps and beauty rings are stationed at all four corners. They are wrapped in 215/75R14 tires for easy cruising and traction, while drum brakes provide the stopping power. For a proper car note, stock-style exhaust manifolds run through dual exhaust pipes and Flowmaster mufflers.
