Dodge was originally founded as the Dodge Brothers Company but began as a machine shop before they ventured into automobiles. They were a supplier of parts to automakers like Ford and it wasn't until 1914 that they would start production of complete vehicles on their own. They actually predated Chrysler but after their death it was eventually sold to Chrysler in 1928. This 1939 has belonged to the current owner for 6 years. It is painted in Maroon paint and the clear is fading in some spots but the steel is all solid. The unique front grill looks good as does the original style trim and bumpers. The glass is good throughout and it has the split 2 piece front windshield and split rear window. The tear drop style headlights work properly as does the frenched rear tail lights. Aftermarket adjustable mirrors have been nicely mounted on both sides for better visibility. It rides on a set of aftermarket 15 inch American Racing Wheels with Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires.
The drivetrain on it has been gone through and the two piece hood opens up to reveal a 350 V8 motor. It runs well with no issues. It has been dressed up with a chrome air cleaner, Edelbrock chrome valve covers, and a chrome alternator. It also has been improved with an Edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carburetor. It has a new aluminum radiator with electric fan so cooling is no problem. The motor is paired with a smooth shifting Turbo 350 automatic transmission and 10 bolt rear end. It has drum brakes that are power assisted and another nice upgrade includes the cold blowing AC.
The interior is done in Maroon cloth and is in good condition. It has a split front bench seat and a full bench in the rear with custom stitching. The dash is painted to match the body and topped with the original style trim. White aftermarket VDO gauges have been added along with LED indicators. Under the dash is the Vintage Air AC unit that works well and features adjustable vents. Look up and you will note a 10K RPM Sunpro tachometer has been added. A Grant steering wheel sits in front of the driver on a tilt column and also has a very cool 8 ball shifter knob. Hidden inside the glove box is a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/Aux player is mounted and utilizes aftermarket speakers. Inside of the truck is a spare, amp for the stereo and the relocated battery box. It is upholstered in cloth like the interior and the rear panel has the Dodge Ram logo.
You don't see many of these Dodges getting streetrodded so it actually makes it quite unique. It is sure to stand out from the sea of Fords at the car show.
