Undeniably one of the highlights of the muscle car era, and even more so for Oldsmobile, the 442 stands proudly as a flagship car for the Golden Age of powerhouse vehicles. This particular numbers-matching 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible is fully repainted in a captivating Palamino Gold exterior, complemented by its white vinyl power top and contrasting black hood stripes. Thanks to its streamlined and powerful design, this awesome Olds looks aggressive from any angle.
Inside, we find a beautiful and mostly surviving original gold vinyl interior. A center console separates the twin bucket seats, while the factory two-spoke, power-assisted steering wheel sits just ahead of a trio of factory gauges that measure speed, fuel, engine temperature, and oil pressure. Sliding ventilation controls keep things simple, while a bench rear set offers plenty of room for two lucky passengers.
Under the hood, we find a numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch overhead valve V-8 engine. Topped with a single four-barrel carburetor mounted on the stock intake manifold, this big V8 was rated at 350 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque when it rolled off the assembly line. Factory exhaust manifolds give way to a true dual exhaust, giving this old-school muscle car a growl commensurate with its power. Power is routed through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission before heading out to the 12-bolt rear, which transfers those ponies to the pavement via a set of polished 14-inch wheels shod in Mastercraft tires.
