While having an untouched classic car is always awesome, for a car like this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the updated version can be even more fun than the original. One look at the Astro Blue respray with twin white stripes sitting on big Budnik polished wheels, and it is clear this car is something special. If that's not enough, the massive, pinned and fully-functional three-inch cowl-induction hood gives this already aggressive machine an even meaner profile, and with good reason.
Inside, the updated and upgraded interior shows off its comfy blue leather that wraps the twin bucket seats, lockable storage armrest, rear bench seat, steering wheel, door panels, and dash pad. The factory-style gauges are complemented by an auxiliary oil pressure AutoMeter gauge mounted under the dash, while aftermarket air-conditioning controls and trick Hurst shifter each feel cool in their own way. The factory AM radio serves as a pleasant placeholder, while an upgraded Sony AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit is stashed out of sight in the glovebox, powering a pair of kick panel and rear-deck speakers and a truck-mounted subwoofer. Custom SS embroidery can be easily seen on both the front seats and centered on the rear seatback, along with the numbers 565, which answers a question you're bound to hear many times.
As much fun as the original Chevelle could be under the hood, this restomod comes packing with a monstrous naturally-aspirated 565 cubic-inch Dart V-8 engine. Comprised of an Eagle crank and rods, Mahle 10.25:1 compression pistons, aluminum heads, Comp roller cam and roller rockers, Dart intake manifold, Holley 1050 Dominator four-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition, and Hooker Jet Hot coated long tube headers, we're told this monster motor makes over 700 horsepower. That crazy power is routed through a Tremec TKO five-speed manual transmission before being sent out to the 3.73-geared 12-bolt Positraction rear end.
