1968 Acadian 2-dr post coupe. Not a Pontiac, not a Chevrolet, just a Canadian make and model all in one! In essence its a re-badged Nova, but there are some differences. Pretty neat to see all the maple leaf icons integrated into the badging around the car. Not only has this car been restored nicely, but its also had plenty spent on upgrading the powertrain. The 350 is now a stroker 383 with Aluminum intake and aftermarket 4-bbl carb, new valve covers and new air cleaner, headers, msd ignition and brushed aluminum pulleys. Theres power steering and power brakes on the car. The engine bay is spotless and very neat and tidy. Behind the power plant is a newer 700R 4-speed automatic that now has a floor shifter in place of the original column shift. Out back are 3:55 gears, Cal-tracks and Mickey Thompson drag radials. The car boogies along nicely. Recent work includes: a new flywheel, transmission mounts, and exhaust gaskets, along with both upper ball joints, all upper and lower front control arm bushings, both front wheel seals and a wheel alignment. $2200 worth of work. The car will still go through our shop, but it looks like the suspension work required has all been done. The car is very handsome in the period correct medium metallic blue that Pontiac/Chevrolet/Acadian was well known for in the late 60s. The paint is in very nice condition along with all the chrome and trim, including a new rear bumper. Badging and side moldings are in great shape. The car has a great look thanks to the stance and large rear tires. The finishing in the trunk is the correct spackle finish and its done very well. Inside the interior is largely original. There are a couple cracks on the dash, but thats expected with the age of the car. This is also not a dash you simply order out of a catalogue being a Canadian only car. Door panels, seats and upholstery are still nice. Theres an aftermarket steering wheel and large Tach. The car shows 87,000 miles, which could be original, but with a 5-digit odometer, true milage is unknown. Theres a heater, rear blower type defroster and the original AM radio still in place. Oil pressure and Water temp gauges have been added. Carpets are in fair shape and will still get a cleaning at our detail center. The bottom side of the car is nice and black with no corrosion. Overall a very unique car with a good look and in very good condition. Youll be the only one at the car show with an Acadian!
