At the heart of this car is its crown jewel: a Yenko ZL1 cast aluminum big-block engine. When Don Yenko purchased the rights from Chevrolet to use the revolutionary aluminum ZL1 big-block, he also acquired the rights to the Can-Am McLaren aluminum engine program, allowing for increased displacement beyond factory ZL1 specifications. As equipped today, this Camaro retains that historically significant engine, built with a 4.440-inch bore and 4.00-inch stroke, resulting in a formidable 496 cubic inches of displacement.
Power is delivered through a legendary Muncie M22 Rock Crusher four-speed transmission, backed by a 12-bolt rear axle with correct traction bars. During the restoration, a new McLeod Racing clutch was installed, along with brand-new Hooker ceramic-coated headers feeding a Flowmaster high-performance exhaust system. The engine compartment has been meticulously detailed to be as accurate and period-correct as possible, reflecting factory finishes and Yenko performance cues.
The interior features Stewart-Warner gauges, a steering-column-mounted tachometer, and a Hurst shifter with black ball, maintaining the authentic Yenko Supercar appearance. All Yenko striping and decals are correctly applied and in place, completing the unmistakable look.
Underneath, the car is every bit as impressive. The undercarriage presents like new, with correct factory-style overspray on the floorboards and off-white sealant on the floor plugs, just as the car would have appeared when new. The front suspension displays the proper paint markings and inspection tags, all rubber bushings have been replaced, and the front control arms are finished in gloss black powder coat. The attention to detail throughout is exceptional.

This Camaro was produced on February 6, 1969, at the Norwood, Ohio, assembly plant and was sold new at Bud Chevrolet in Valdosta, Georgia.
