1959 Chevrolet El Camino
Is it a car? Is it a truck? It's an El Camino! These coupe utility vehicles were produced by Chevrolet from 1959-1960 and then again from 1964-1987. It was designed in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero and was initially based on the Biscayne B-body before later being adapted to the Chevelle platform. With these cars you get that late 50s style with the usefulness that comes from having a pickup truck. The '59 was such a neat design with the classic tail fins still in place and the long tear drop taillights. It is painted in a very cool Bronze combined with Champagne accents on the roof, upper surfaces of the fins and on the side trim. The chrome and stainless look great throughout including all the bumpers and the side spears. It also has the bed rails which are very unique and something you don't see on a lot of these. The stance of it is great and totally adjustable with full air ride in front/rear. This allows you to set your ride for comfort but then drop it down once you pull up at the car show. There is a compressor switch on the dash and all of the compressor equipment can be easily accessed through the bed which is all painted to match. It rides on painted wheels with Impala style hubcaps and Wide White Radial tires.
It runs great and is powered up by a 348 high torque motor. It is nice and clean throughout the engine compartment with a lot of components painted Chevrolet Orange and the 4 barrel Edelbrock carb has a dual snorkel gloss Black air cleaner. It has a 4 speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly with no issues. It is nicely optioned out with power brakes and power steering so is set up to be a great driver. It sounds great too through custom exhaust that exits out of the side just before the rear tires.
The interior in it is gorgeous and has been completely redone. It is a Cidella Classic Chevrolet interior in a matching two tone Bronze and Champagne with very nice patterned inserts on the split bench seat. The carpeting, door panels, and headliner are all in very clean condition. The dash is painted to match the body as is the tilt column and stock style steering wheel that is two tone with a chrome horn ring. On the dash are the original style gauges with the odometer indicating 80,701 miles. Under the dash is that switch for the compressor, aftermarket Sunpro gauges and a vintage Kraco FM tuner.
The current owner has had the vehicle in their collection for a little over 2 years. It needs nothing and everything works!
