This Trans Am was sold new at Solcum Pontiac, Inc., located in the greater Milwaukee area of Wisconsin, and was assembled at the Van Nuys Assembly Plant. Today it remains exceptionally well documented and carefully preserved, retaining an impressive collection of its original paperwork, including the original purchase agreement, window sticker, build sheet, purchase invoice, warranty plan, and additional factory documentation.
Power comes from the highly desirable W72 Performance Package, featuring the legendary L78 6.6-liter Pontiac 400 cubic-inch V8 engine equipped with a four-barrel carburetor. For 1979, the W72 represented the final high-performance version of Pontiac's 400 engine and delivered strong torque and authentic muscle-car character. The engine is paired with a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.23-ratio Positraction limited-slip rear axle, offering an engaging and responsive driving experience. Four-wheel disc brakes with power assist provide confident stopping power.
Further enhancing its performance credentials is the WS6 Special Performance Package, which added special suspension tuning, larger sway bars, quick-ratio steering, and cast aluminum wheels.
