Bold in engineering, appearance, and driving character, the Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 stands as a distinctive American car of the 1960s. Part of Chevrolets daring Corvair lineup, the 900 Monza combined everyday usability with an unconventional rear-engine layout that set it apart from others. Powered by an air-cooled, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine mounted behind the rear axle, the Corvair delivered a uniquely balanced feel and a flat torque curve that was surprising for its displacement. The Monza trim level was positioned as the sportier, better-equipped choice in the range, featuring optional two-tone exterior schemes, stylish wheel covers, and upscale interior touches that brought a European flair to the American compact segment. Despite its compact footprint, the Corvair offered a comfortable cabin for four adults and a sensible luggage area up front. Its independent suspension on all four corners provided a compliant ride and competent handling, traits that earned both fans and critics. By 1963, Chevrolet had refined the Corvair, sharpening performance and improving quality. Today, the Monza is appreciated by enthusiasts for its quirky engineering, classic 1960's styling, and role as a bold, and sometimes controversial, chapter in Chevrolets history. The Corvair 900 Monza presented here is finished in a charming shade of red over a like-new vinyl interior. Equipped with a white convertible soft top, wire wheels, and whitewall tires, adding to its sporty appearance. The interior is draped in a matching a red upholstery throughout, and features front bucket seats and a new vintage-look stereo system. The rear-mounted air-cooled flat-six engine is paired with an automatic transmission and unique shifter, creating a fun driving experience. The Dane Miller Estate Collection welcomed this Monza in 1998, acquiring it from a Mr. Jandik of Ohio, who had previously acquired it from Roy Miller of Florida. Well-maintained and well-presented, this Corvair 900 Monza embodies the charm and individuality that have made these cars appreciated by collectors. Its engaging driving character makes it a standout example of Chevrolets most unconventional and conversation-starting designs of the era. * Acquired by the Collection in 1998 * Upgraded stereo unit * Attractive red exterior over a like-new red interior * A unique rear-mounted engine configuration From the Kruse Auctions
