Introduced for the 1960 model year, the Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible represented the final evolution of Lincolns second-generation Continental line, developed to reinforce the brands position at the top of the American luxury market. Building on the dramatic styling introduced in 1958, the Mark V featured crisp, slab-sided bodywork, restrained chrome detailing, and a long, elegant profile that reflected a shift toward more formal, European-inspired luxury. Engineering focused on refinement and presence, with unibody construction providing improved rigidity and ride quality. Acquired by The Dane Miller Estate Collection at the 2006 Auburn Auction & Show, this example has since resided in his two-story, climate-controlled purpose-built collection facility. Before that, this Mark V resided in the state of Ohio, and in the 1970s, during the era of the Big Red Machine, it was used to drive dignitaries on the field during Cincinnati Reds' baseball games, possibly even driving some of the players, such as Pete Rose. Under the large hood lies a 430-cubic-inch V-8 engine that is backed by an automatic transmission. A luxury vehicle in its day, creature comforts include power steering, power brakes, power windows, a power convertible top, Town & Country radio, a clock built into the dash, and fine red faux leather upholstery throughout the cabin.
