1967 BSA Lightning
VIN: A50C283
The dual carbureted 650cc Lightning was BSA's sport bike offering in 1967. Designed primarily for the US market, it was developed to complement the more touring oriented BSA Thunderbolt.
The example shown here was purchased by the current owner in 2007 with 6,375 miles showing on the speedometer. It was an unmolested original that had been recently refurbished in a candy apple red paint called “Flamboyant Red” by BSA. It was then taken to BSA/Triumph Steve Bunyan in Escondido, where a thorough evaluation and tune-up was performed. In 2009 the Lightning received a complete engine rebuild, new fork gaters, coils, and a Boyer electronic ignition; a noisy speedometer was also rebuilt. The Lightning was ridden sparingly after that, to insure that it was in good running order before being pickled and put into storage. (All maintenance and repair documents furnished with sale.)
