1982 Triumph Bonneville ES
VIN:
In 1975 the employees at Triumph took over production of a now struggling company, determined to bring back an improved machine that could successfully stem the tidal wave of Japanese machines that threatened to overwhelm them. In so doing they were actually quite successful in producing a 750cc machine equipped with twin carbs, a five speed, and disc brakes front and rear that eclipsed the classic Bonneville's of the 60's. Only one major shortcoming remained: Electric start, which they rectified with the 1982 model you see here. Unfortunately, coming 25 years after its introduction on Japanese models it proved too little too late, and the following year the factory closed and Bonneville production went on hiatus for the next 20 years.
The example you see here is one of the last of those rare electric start Bonneville's. It is all original, has a dazzling dark blue fading to black finish, and was purchased by the current owner in 2012 with the odometer showing 15,322 miles. In 2015 it received a major service that included new tires, brakes, master cylinder, and fuel petcock. It has been carefully maintained and sparingly ridden since, is in excellent all original condition, and the odometer currently shows only 15,579 miles.
