1983 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk
VIN: JH2RC1307DM014533
Honda's 650 Nighthawk, which debuted in 1983, was an unusual motorcycle. While its DOHC 16 valve motor with electronic ignition made 65 hp and, coupled with a 6 speed transmission, gave it performance approaching Superbike standards (low to mid-12 second quarter miles), it also featured hydraulic valves and shaft drive, which made for extraordinarily low maintenance. Change the oil regularly and check the tire pressures, and your maintenance chores were done. (This was greatly appreciated by the owner, who spent 2-1/2 trouble free months touring the scenic highways and back roads of Mexico with no maintenance equipment other than the bike's tool kit, a tire pressure gauge, and a spare oil filter.)
The example you see here was purchased new from Pasadena Honda by the original owner in 1983 and has provided 17,473 trouble free miles over the 43 years that I have owned the bike. It has been carefully maintained throughout its life. It is a one owner all original, never been dropped or abused, and its Candy Wineberry Red paint as well as its operating systems all remain in good condition.
