In 2021, the 2.7L flat-six was professionally rebuilt by KNSD LLC in Arizona, with machine work completed by Ollie s Engineering in Lake Havasu, Arizona, a well-known Porsche machine shop. This was not just a quick refresh or someone throwing gaskets at it. The engine was fully gone through and rebuilt properly. The case was inspected and machined, head studs were repaired with inserts, valve guides were replaced, a valve job was completed, and the engine received the important oil bypass update, which is something Porsche enthusiasts like to see on these 2.7 cars. The rebuild also included a Mahle piston and cylinder set, new bearings, timing chains, chain guides, ignition components, clutch components, injector service parts, hoses, hardware, and much more. The connecting rods were cleaned and balanced, and the engine was run and tested on an engine stand to verify oil pressure and a basic tune before installation. The fuel system was also gone through in 2021, including a rebuilt fuel distributor, warm-up regulator, fuel pump, and sending unit. Suspension work included rear swing arm bushings, upgraded 26mm rear torsion bars, and a front strut brace, helping improve the way the car drives and feels on the road. Mechanically, the car runs and drives exceptionally well. The engine is very healthy, sounds excellent, and delivers strong power.
