1936 Ford DeLuxe Cabriolet in Black with tan top and brown vinyl. One of the most beautiful Art-Deco cars in existence. Great in pictures and absolutely stunning in person with a physical presence that few cars ever posses. It looks elegant and streamlined from every angle. A bit of history is known - the car has had 3 owners in total so far, with the most recent one having imported the car into Canada from Kentucky in 2006. The milage however has remained the same, as the collector avoided wracking up miles and kept the car in storage in a fantastic private showroom/collection. The car shows 74 miles on the odometer and thats believed to have been rolled back to zero when the car was restored. Its not entirely clear when the restoration took place, but the car is sporting an Antique Automobile Club of America National first place winner in 1975, and its believed that the car was restored for that award and has been kept in the same condition since then! Potentially, the restoration was done more than 50 years ago! Powered by a 221 cubic inch flat head V8 and paired with a 3-speed non-synchronized manual transmission, the car starts well and runs so very smoothly. The clutch feel is just right. Mono-leaf suspension, and mechanical 4-wheel drum brakes were just how it left the factory. Everything is manual on this car, but it dsnt require the driver to change engine timing during operation like the earlier Model A. It can still be started using a crank! After a recent polish, the black paint is showing very well. The interior was refinished in brown vinyl and all the wood grain you see on the dash and door panels was hand painted at the factory " its actually all metal. There is a new floor liner that comes with the car, as the current one is begging to crack, and the only other wear that can be seen is on the rubber covered running boards with minor cracking. White wall tires complete the look. Radios were new technology in cars in the 30s and optional at the time. This car was not ordered with a radio, and because it was a fair-weather convertible, it has no heater either. It ds however have fuel, temperature and amperage gauges, speedometer along with a manual choke, lighter and ashtray, and vacuum operated windshield wiper. This all sounds like basic equipment, but these items werent necessarily standard on every car. The owners manual is in the glove box, however its likely a 50-year-old reproduction. Everything on the car is very sorted and very clean, including the highly detailed engine compartment. These werent made in great numbers and are very collectible. In this condition, there would be very few of them around.
