1930 Ford Model A 3-window Coupe Hot Rod. Not your average Hot rod with a great big V8, this one has a special Ford treat under the hood! We love that the exterior of this Model A is largely stock. The body is all Henry Ford steel! The roof is chopped 2 1/2, but it still features most of the chrome that would have been found on the original car apart from bumpers. Even the Thunderstorm grey and black color scheme and the way it was painted feels like it could be period correct. The wheels and tires are more vintage hot rod rather than something modern. Its sitting on a Speedway frame and the car is clearly lowered with a 4 drop axel, but it still has a lot of its original appearance. The interior is much the same way. There are modern gauges, but the fabrics, seat and upholstery are all very period correct. Contrast that to the 2.3-liter Lima turbocharged 4-cylinder from a 1986 Ford Thunderbird Turbo coupe that looks like a work of art when you open the hood! The engine has all been rebuilt and now features a Garet Turbo with air to water intercooler, Stinger performance ECM and Ron Howard wiring harness. The crazy thing is that at idle, the 2.3 in this even sounds reminiscent of the Ford flathead four that would have come in it originally. All thoughts of that old engine evaporate though, when you go for a drive! This modified 2.3 makes 225 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque when spooled up properly. Dyno sheets with the car boast the power. The tuning was all completed at Murkel Motor Sports. Its an absolute blast to drive and thanks to 4-link rear suspension and other modifications it handles well too. Power routes through a 9 rear diff with anti-spin and 3:54 gears. Braking is easy thanks to power disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. The fit and finish under the hood is astonishingly good. Everything has been buttoned up so well including the turbo itself, wastegate and all the associated plumbing. It would take a true engineering mind to sort out how to package everything so nicely under the hood of a Model A. The engine runs Methanol injection to keep it cool. To top that off, a full AEM digital interface monitors and displays all the information you cold want in the center of the old dashboard. Underneath the dash a set of Bosch gauges monitor oil pressure, turbo boost, fuel level, engine temperature, Air/fuel ratio, and theres a speedometer and tachometer. An LED also illuminates when Meth is being shot into the engine. The 2.3 has multiport fuel injection and the turbo charger is also intercooled. Behind all that is a Borg-warner 5-speed manual transmission with new clutch. It still routes through the original shift lever and looks stock! The trunk is finished with carpet and upholstery as well as the rest of the car. The car is so well done its hard to put into words! It drives like a million dollars, has been so well engineered, and the paint and restoration work is to notch. Overall, the builder had extreme attention to detail, and the car is unique and special, not to mention its a Ford in a Ford. The only one of its kind around! True milage is unknown.
