Rarely do we get the opportunity to offer a 1954 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible in this kind of condition, especially one with a $186,000 restoration tally. It shows the passion and conviction that went into the restoration. More than 400,000 Plymouth’s were sold in 1954, but only approximately 6,900 were convertibles, making this a genuinely uncommon classic. Finished in beautiful San Pedro Blue with a Tan canvas power convertible top and a beautifully preserved Blue, White and Tan textured interior, this Belvedere has the look and presence of a true 1950s collector car.
Under the hood is clean and very original. Plymouth’s 217.8 cubic inch L-head inline six produces approximately 100 horsepower through a single-barrel carburetor. Power is delivered through the desirable three-speed manual transmission with factory power steering, sending power to the rear wheels through a 4.11 rear axle. This is an excellent cruiser, while the engine compartment remains exceptionally clean and authentic.
The interior is one of the highlights, with beautifully restored Blue, White and Tan textured vinyl special split front seating, (date ready!) Matching door panels, blue carpeting, and an impressive Art Deco-inspired dashboard. The large factory AM radio display, cream-colored instrument panel, chrome trim, and white steering wheel with chrome horn ring give this Plymouth an unmistakable 1950s feel. The trunk is equally clean and includes carpeting.
The San Pedro Blue body and paint present beautifully, complemented by the distinctive chrome side spear, excellent brightwork, Belvedere badging, and classic rear fender styling. The Tan canvas top is also in excellent condition. Underneath, the original X-frame is exceptionally clean, while the coil spring front and leaf spring rear suspension retain the authentic driving characteristics of the era. Four-wheel drum brakes and the original-style exhaust complete the period-correct mechanical package.
This Belvedere drives as nicely as it presents, offering a comfortable ride, excellent visibility, and a wonderful open-air cruising experience. All features operate as they should. This car also comes with lots of extra parts from its original owner and restorer. You will see and feel the passion for this car the moment you view it.
Absolutely stunning!
