This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible combines classic C2 styling with a thoroughly modernized chassis, drivetrain and interior. Acquired by its current owner in 2020 as an already well-executed restomod, the Corvette subsequently underwent another extensive phase of development, with more than $200,000 invested in further refining and upgrading the car to its present configuration. The resulting build is centered around an SRIII Motorsports Stage II chassis, LS3 powerplant and modern independent suspension, with substantial attention given to its mechanical systems, exterior details and custom interior.
The body is finished in a rich metallic blue with a contrasting white stripe extending over the stinger-style hood, which features an open scoop allowing outside air into the engine compartment. Chrome bumpers and bright exterior trim retain the familiar C2 detailing, while modern LED headlamps are concealed behind electrically operated headlight doors. A 1965-style fuel door adds a subtle styling element. Staggered 19"" front and 20"" rear Schott Turbine wheels are wrapped in 235/35ZR19 and 305/30ZR20 Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires.
Power comes from an all aluminum 6.2L LS3 V8 equipped with a Holley Sniper EFI intake manifold and stainless steel headers. It is paired with a Silver Sport Transmissions T56 6-speed manual, sending power via a Dynotech driveshaft to an 8.8 inch independent rear differential with 3.55 gearing and limited-slip. Underneath, an SRIII custom round-tube Stage II chassis forms the foundation of the build and incorporates C7 front and rear independent suspension. Viking double-adjustable coilover shocks provide adjustable damping at all four corners, while power rack-and-pinion steering and C7 Z51 four-wheel disc brakes further update the chassis for modern road use.
Inside, the Corvette carries a custom white interior with diamond-stitched bucket seats and matching door panels set against contrasting blue carpeting. The body-matched dashboard is accented by contrasting white leather-wrapped instrument binnacles, while a matching blue center console houses the 6-speed shifter, cupholder and auxiliary controls. A custom leather-wrapped steering wheel and silver-faced Classic Instruments gauges further modernize the cockpit without abandoning the C2's characteristic dash layout, with modern air conditioning managed through Vintage Air controls. A Pioneer touchscreen head unit provides Bluetooth and SiriusXM capability along with a back-up camera, while Kenwood speakers and a PowerBass enclosure provide upgraded audio.
This 1964 Corvette is a thoroughly developed restomod with major upgrades extending well beyond its LS3 powertrain. The SRIII Stage II chassis, C7 suspension, custom interior and carefully selected details work together as a complete build rather than a collection of individual modifications. Its engineering, presentation and level of customization make it a distinctive interpretation of the C2 Corvette platform.
