The 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 ranks among the most significant and collectible American performance cars ever produced. Developed to homologate Ford’s formidable Boss 429 engine for NASCAR competition, the model required extensive modification by Kar Kraft to accommodate the massive semi-hemispherical-head V8. Just 859 Boss 429 Mustangs were produced for 1969, including only 279 desirable early-production examples equipped with the 820-S-code engine.
This outstanding example retains its numbers-matching early S-code 429ci Boss engine and has been treated to a complete rotisserie restoration. It is beautifully presented in its factory Royal Maroon finish over a Black Clarion Knit vinyl interior. Its purposeful mechanical specification includes a V-code 3.91 Traction-Lok rear axle, competition suspension and the distinctive factory trunk-mounted battery arrangement.
Originally sold through Vaughn-Dunaway Motor Company in Mineral Wells, Texas, this rare Boss 429 is documented by a Deluxe Marti Report and accompanied by its owner’s manual.
