1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS Tribute

Description:

350 cubic-inch ZZ4 crate V-8 engine, four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, power four-wheel disc brakes, rear-wheel-drive; Wheelbase: 108-inches • First year example of the iconic and historic Camaro • Upgraded 350 cubic-inch ZZ4 V-8 crate engine • Power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, and A/C • Attractive colors over a Pearl White vinyl and red interior The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro marked Chevrolet’s bold entry into the burgeoning pony car market, created in direct response to the runaway success of the Ford Mustang. Introduced in September 1966, the Camaro was built on the brand-new F-body platform, offering a blend of style, performance, and affordability that quickly captured enthusiasts’ attention. Its name, famously chosen from a French dictionary meaning “comrade” or “friend,” reflected Chevrolet’s desire to create a car that would connect with drivers on a personal level. The 1967 model year marked the first year of the historic Camaro and was offered with a wide range of trims and engines that appealed to diverse buyers. Customers could choose from inline-six engines for economy, small-block V8s for balance, or the big-block 396 V8 for serious muscle. Styling was aggressive yet sleek, with a long hood, short deck, and sweeping body lines that gave it a distinctive presence. Options like the RS (Rally Sport) appearance package and SS (Super Sport) performance package allowed buyers to tailor the car to their tastes. The Camaro was also the foundation for Chevrolet’s Trans-Am racing efforts, debuting as a serious contender on the track. By blending everyday practicality with high-performance potential, the 1967 Camaro established itself as a true American icon and set the stage for generations to come. Acquired by the Grand Rapids Classics Auto Museum in August of 2025 from the 55th Annual Auburn Auction & Show, this first year Camaro has been tastefully upgraded in all the right spots. Finished in a smooth red with a white power soft top, its iconic stance is complete with 15-inch American Racing Torq wheels wrapped in Silvertown Radial red line tires. The cabin features Pearl white vinyl bucket seats, matching door inserts, red carpet, a wood steering wheel, air-conditioning, an upgraded radio, and a middle console with a Hurst manual shifter. Under the hood lies an upgraded 350 cubic-inch ZZ4 crate V-8 engine that’s backed by a Muncie four-speed manual transmission contacted to a 10-bolt rear end with 3.08 gears. Other items include power four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and a dual exhaust that portray a true muscle car symphony. This nicely preserved and tastefully enhanced Camaro stands as both a tribute to Chevrolet’s original vision and a celebration of the muscle car era. Blending factory-inspired styling with modern performance upgrades, it embodies the enduring appeal of America’s pony car. Today, it remains not only a symbol of 1960s innovation but also a living reminder of why the Camaro captured, and still captures, the hearts of enthusiasts worldwide.
