Description:
This 1975 Volkswagen Type 2 is a 15-window bus that was constructed in Brazil and subsequently imported to the US. A refurbishment under previous ownership included a repaint in red and white, a re-trim of the three-row interior in quilted gray vinyl, and the installation of Vintage Air air conditioning and a short-shift kit. Powered by a replacement 1.6-liter inline-four linked to a four-speed manual transaxle, the bus also features 14 steel wheels, an electronic distributor, and a rear roof rack and ladder.
Interior:
The cabin is trimmed in gray vinyl with quilted inserts, and it is equipped with Vintage Air air conditioning. A short-shift kit has been installed, and the selling dealer tells us the light switch has been replaced. The right-side cargo doors open to reveal a rear cabin that features two rows of bench seats.
Exterior:
The 15-window body has been refinished in the current shade of red and white, and it features dual side mirrors, bumper overriders, and a wood and metal rear roof rack and side ladder. The 14 steel wheels with polished hubcaps were mounted with Sumitomo HTR Enhance LX2 tires in preparation for the sale.
Drivetrain:
The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four is equipped with an electronic distributor and an updated alternator and was factory-rated at 52 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
