Completed approximately three years ago and driven just 2,300 miles since completion, the car combines traditional hot-rod character with carefully selected modern components intended to make it as enjoyable to drive as it is to show. The build begins with a Gibbon Roadster body mounted to a Pete & Jakes frame. Its vivid Porsche Signal Red finish is accented by custom flame graphics, while a DuVall styled Windshield supports the removable hardtop covered in black Hartz cloth that provides an especially attractive and useful addition seldom seen on open '32 Roadsters. The interior is finished in gray leather, creating a tasteful contrast to the exterior while maintaining the clean, purposeful character of the build. The Roadster was constructed by its current owner, a lifelong automotive enthusiast and experienced builder whose background includes multiple high level Show awards in the US including the SEMA Shows. Rather than simply building a car for visual impact, considerable attention was given to creating a combination that could be driven and enjoyed. Power comes from a seller-described GM ZZ4-based 355ci V8 featuring ARP hardware, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Edelbrock Victor aluminum water pump, and Moroso oil pump and oil pan. Fuel delivery is handled by MSD Atomic electronic fuel injection, providing modern starting and drivability while retaining the personality expected from a traditionally styled American V8. An MSD distributor and CDI ignition system handle ignition duties. Backing the ZZ4-V8 is a 700R4 four-speed automatic overdrive transmission, an especially desirable choice for a street-driven hot rod thanks to its combination of strong acceleration and relaxed highway cruising. Power is transferred through a Ford 9-inch rear axle. The chassis is equipped with adjustable Aldan coilover shocksand Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, providing a substantial upgrade in both ride control and braking capability. Steering is through an IDIDIT column. Another distinctive visual element of the car is its set of Billet Specialties/Colorado Custom 15-inch forged billet aluminum wheels with Tri-bar knock-off style spinners. They carry substantial 315/70R15 rear tires paired with narrower 195/65R15 front tires, giving the Roadster the classic big-and-little stance that has defined traditional high-performance street rods for generations. Comfort and usability were also important parts of the build. A Vintage Air heating and air-conditioning system makes the car more practical for extended cruising, while AutoMeter instrumentation keeps the driver informed. The electrical system is supported by a Painless Performance wiring harness. A custom exhaust system incorporates Edelbrock mufflers along with an exhaust cutout feature, allowing the driver to alter the Roadster's exhaust character when desired.
