Mechanically and structurally, the Mustang 552 and the Mustang 960 are practically identical machines. The Mustang 960 is the direct successor to the 552. When Owatonna Manufacturing Company (OMC) updated its naming conventions in the late 1980's early 1990's the 552 layout was rebranded and refreshed into the 960. We just gave this one a paint job. We scraped off old decals and installed new after paint job. This kit shorted me one 5 so I used a 6 on one side. According to his vin number this is a late 80's early 90's model. It is an exact twin bro to the 960 D. Machine only has 2240 hours. Starts and runs great. I prefer a smaller machine be I cant haul this one on my car trailer. Minimum dry weight is over 7300 ,add fluids, fuel, and bucket and we are way over the 7000 limit on my car trailer. I took this one on trade for my one owner loader Gehl a couple years ago. I do have a bigger snow bucket but its a bit tall to get in and out of the machine. This straight sand bucket is very nice and not been frankensteined together for 40 years! I also have 24" bucket extensions if yr gonna plow snow. When bolted on this bucket yr looking at 9 plus feet wide. That moves the snow pretty good. I am getting another piece of plexiglass for right side . I would like to build a door b4 winter. Altho last winter I only used it twice. Winter b4 was less. We might get clobbered this year ,who knows. This machine has a Isuzu commercial 4 cyl diesel. Non turbo. I did oil change, fuel filter change last winter. I also installed new battery and new start on this machine. All gauges, lights work as they should. It seems machine has been stored inside,no rodents.Doesnt look like it slopped through the manure either. I haven't ran into a bolt that wont screw right out. Tires are good, stay at air pressure. This machine is a cheap rig to add to yr fleet for a 2nd or 3rd machine, maybe a machine for yr cabin? If I were to run a loader all day ,I might opt in for the more cushy machine. I would have to spend two or three what this low buck unit will do. There is a black political sign covering the hood.
I would look at tractor n loader as a trade. Ford or John Deere prefered. Would look at others as well. I grew up with a utl John Deere loader and I have owned mostly Fords now. Would look at other trades as well. Check out my site check out my site. You will see we are into many different types of trades. Thanks for reading. 621036
