Since September 1999, Street Dreams Texas has been bringing classic American muscle and collector cars to enthusiasts around the world. Few American sports cars have had the staying power of the second-generation Corvette, and Bill Mitchell's Sting Ray remains one of the most recognizable and desirable designs ever to come out of Detroit. We're particularly pleased to welcome this beautiful 1965 Sting Ray Convertible back to Street Dreams Texas-we have had this car before, and it's always a pleasure when a great car finds its way back to us. This Corvette has a particularly interesting history, having started life as a one-owner California car before spending approximately a decade in the David Taylor Classic Car Museum in Galveston, Texas. Beneath the hood is its numbers-matching L79 327, one of Chevrolet's most celebrated small-blocks of the era, originally rated at 350 horsepower. The numbers-matching Muncie M20 4-speed puts the driver firmly in control, and the newest chapter in this Corvette's story is a Holley Sniper EFI system that has transformed the driving experience-the engine now runs exceptionally strong and smooth. The combination of the Winters aluminum intake, Corvette-script valve covers, MSD ignition, and aluminum radiator gives the L79 plenty of character, while the fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and telescopic steering wheel make the Sting Ray every bit the driver's car it was meant to be. Both hard and soft tops are included, and the recently added 6-inch Rally wheels and B.F. Goodrich red-stripe radial tires give the car an unmistakably period-correct appearance. There is something special about a C2 Corvette that goes well beyond its looks. Drop the top, grab the wheel, and you're connected to one of the most influential American sports cars ever built. After all, you can't lower the top on an oil painting and take it down your favorite road-and this Sting Ray is ready for the next chapter of its story.
