This 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback combines serious factory pedigree with thoughtfully selected performance upgrades retaining the character that makes an S-Code GT so desirable while making it considerably more enjoyable on todays roads. According to its Elite Marti Report this Mustang was born a factory S-Code 390-4V Fastback finished in Candyapple Red over Red Decor Bucket Seats and equipped from new with the GT Equipment Group four-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential.
Today the Mustang has been upgraded with a 5-speed manual transmission for more relaxed highway cruising and a Holley Sniper EFI system for improved starting drivability and fuel delivery. The 390 is further enhanced with an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold mild camshaft and long-tube headers feeding a 3-inch Flowmaster exhaust system. A Flex-a-lite 3-inch aluminum radiator helps keep the big-block running cool while power steering a Wilwood master cylinder and front disc brakes further improve drivability and braking performance.
The exterior is finished in its iconic Candyapple Red and the overall presentation is exceptional. The paint shows excellent depth and gloss complemented by clean consistent panel fit and well-defined body lines throughout the Fastback. The chrome stainless trim emblems glass surrounds and other brightwork present beautifully providing the crisp contrast that makes the Candyapple Red finish stand out. Legendary Magnum 500-style wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires complete the look giving this GT the muscular period-correct stance a big-block 67 Mustang deserves.
The Marti Report tells an impressive story. Of the 472209 Mustangs produced for 1967 just 17350 were equipped with the 390-4V and only 9759 combined the 390 with a four-speed manual transmission. From there this cars combination becomes increasingly uncommon: only 1275 were Candyapple Red 93 combined that paint with Red Decor Bucket Seats 67 of those received the GT Equipment Group 10 were equipped with the AM/8-Track Stereo Radio four received the Courtesy Light Group and this was the only one of those equipped with manual steering as originally built.
