This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible pairs its unmistakable C1 body with a Street Shop chassis and a modern GM drivetrain. Built around a 6.2L LS3 V8, a 4L65E automatic transmission and independent rear suspension, it received extensive body modifications as well as a fully customized interior. The result retains the Corvette's classic profile while giving its driver considerably more room, comfort and capability.
Finished in Black with a matching Haartz convertible top, the body was stripped bare and rotisserie restored by Woods Body Work of West Valley, Utah. The front floor pans were lengthened for additional legroom, while the side scoops were moved forward and made functional to extract heat from the engine compartment. Widened rear quarter panels accommodate larger rear wheels and tires, and the front fenders have been rolled. The familiar quad headlights, chrome grille, side-cove trim and four round taillights remain, complemented by polished five-spoke Vision Legend wheels with red rim accents. Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires measure 265/35ZR18 up front and 275/30ZR20 at the rear.
Power comes from a GM Connect & Cruise 6.2L LS3 V8 paired with a 4L65E automatic transmission and a Lokar shifter. An independent Dana 44 rear differential carries 3.50 gears and limited-slip. Beneath the body, the Street Shop chassis features a red powder-coated frame and C4 Corvette suspension with coilover shocks at all four corners. A front anti-sway bar and power rack-and-pinion steering further update the driving hardware. Power Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes use red calipers and cross-drilled rotors, while a dual exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers exits beneath the rear bumper.
The Red leather interior carries the exterior's custom treatment into the cabin. Bucket seats flank a molded center console with a covered armrest, Lokar shifter and push-button ignition. Dakota Digital instrumentation fills the original-style gauge openings, and modern air conditioning is operated through controls on the console. Power windows, a RetroSound AM/FM head unit with auxiliary input adds convenience, while red door panels, carpeting, steering wheel and shifter boot complete the presentation.
The modifications here go beyond the usual engine swap and interior refresh. Woods Body Work reshaped the Corvette to accommodate wider rear tires, improve engine-bay ventilation and give occupants more legroom, while preserving the C1 silhouette. It's a thoughtfully reworked roadster with a distinct identity of its own.
