The 2020 Shelby Super Snake Bold Edition paired 825 horsepower with the kind of color and visual impact its name promised. Limited to 30 cars for the U. S. market, the Bold Edition combined Shelby American's highest-performing Mustang package of the period with three vivid color-and-stripe combinations. This example makes the most of that formula in Grabber Lime with black graphics, a power-operated convertible top and a 6-speed manual transmission. Because the 30-car production run was divided among three colors, fastback and convertible body styles, and manual and automatic transmissions, this combination of body style, color and transmission is extremely rare. Accompanying documentation includes correspondence between the selling dealer and the original buyer, along with photos taken during the car's assembly at Shelby American.
Grabber Lime covers the Shelby-modified exterior, contrasted by black stripes extending across the functional vented hood, rear deck, spoiler and bumper. Shelby's exterior conversion adds a unique front fascia with an enlarged mesh grille, deeper splitter, rocker extensions, rear spoiler, and aggressive lower diffuser. Super Snake fender emblems and black Shelby rocker graphics identify the car along each side, while a black cloth convertible top provides a strong contrast when raised. Black 20"" Shelby forged aluminum wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and reveal red Shelby-branded brake calipers.
Power comes from a supercharged 5.0L Coyote V8 rated by Shelby at 825 horsepower. The Super Snake package incorporates a Whipple sueprcharger, high-flow intake, billet throttle body, upgraded fuel injectors, Shelby extreme cooling equipment and a Shelby-tuned Borla exhaust system. A Getrag MT82 6-speed manual transmission sends power to an independent 8.8"" rear differential with 3.73 gearing and a Torsen limited-slip. The underlying Mustang GT was ordered with the GT Performance Package and MagneRide damping system, providing a strong foundation for Shelby's additional suspension and chassis tuning. Rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes provide the corresponding control. The braking system uses large slotted rotors and red Shelby-branded Brembo multi-piston calipers.
The black cabin carries the Bold Edition color theme through contrasting green accents and Shelby-specific trim. Shelby upholstery distinguishes the seating, while Super Snake identification appears throughout the interior. Equipment Group 401A adds a configurable 12"" digital instrument cluster, heated steering wheel, premium interior trim, driver-seat memory, navigation and Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert. The Ford Safe & Smart Package adds adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers and pre-collision assistance with automatic emergency braking. A B&O sound system handles the audio, while a white cue-ball shift knob operates the 6-speed manual. Additional Shelby equipment includes serialized dashboard identification, branded door-sill plates and Shelby floor mats. The black styling bar sits behind the front seats and gives the convertible a particularly aggressive profile when the top is lowered.
Shelby American has produced plenty of high-output Mustangs, but the Bold Edition occupies a much narrower corner of that history. Its 30-car U. S. production run, 825-horsepower drivetrain and unmistakable appearance give it immediate collector relevance, while the manual transmission and convertible body make this Grabber Lime example especially compelling. It is a modern Shelby that makes no attempt to hide what it is, delivering the rarity, theater and performance promised by the Super Snake name.
