1971 Chrysler Town & Country Wagon

Description:

Up for sale is this absolutely gorgeous 1971 Chrysler Town & Country 9 passenger Station Wagon. This car has currently ONLY 77,627 original miles! It is powered by the optional 440 c.i. V8 (10,993 nine-passenger model wagons were built in 1971; however, only a rather small number of them came with the big and very desirable 440 engine as designated by the "T" in the VIN). The engine is paired with a four barrel carburetor and the 727 (indestructible) Torque Flite automatic transmission. The car is highly optioned; it includes AC, power windows, a split bench seat with power 6-way adjustments on the driver's side and a reclining back rest on the passenger side, remote driver's side mirror, manual passenger side mirror, two way tailgate with power window and front disc brakes. The car also has the third seat in the rear area, hence making this wagon a nine passenger model. This car is essentially a true survivor with most/all of its original paint, pristine chrome and a completely original interior (dark green) in truly excellent condition without a rip, tear or any damage (with the exception of slight deformation on plastic bin cover(s) atop the rear wheel wells humps - extra covers are included) to be found; just unbelievable! The original carpeting, although slightly faded in places, is in great condition throughout. This is a really beautiful automobile; it has been cared for by only three owners since new and it even comes with the original built sheet, operator/owner manual and warranty pamphlet! Just about 100% turn key and ready to enjoy and/or take to car shows. A pleasure to drive; a pleasure to ow(n. The car starts at a turn of the key and the engine just purrs; it runs great and strong and has to be one of the most comfortable cars I have ever driven, (only running ethanol free fuel under my watch). Of note, the previous owner of this particular wagon was invited to participate at the New England Concours d'Elegance at the Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs, NY on September 30th, 2012 where it was voted "Best Car to Drive across America to California" by the Hemming's Concours judges in addition to receiving other commendable mentions. Due to unforeseen and unfortunate health reasons, the previous owner offered the car for sale the following year and I bought it from him shortly thereafter in October of 2013. In addition, a small, but complimentary segment mentioning this specific wagon was written in the November 11, 2013 AutoWeek magazine (page 14). Both recognitions attesting to the exceptional condition of this car. Another article addressing the big Chrysler station wagons (1969 to 1981) in general and the 1971 specifically was also published in the February 2014 Hemming's Classic Cars magazine (page 41). The exhaust system, tires, brake master cylinder, rear wheels cylinders and the power steering pump were all replaced under prior ownership. The power windows including the tailgate window all work flawlessly as does the power seat. Although the wagon has always been meticulously maintained, the AC currently only works intermittently (most likely needs to be recharged). The AM radio only works intermittently as well. (NOTE: An original spare radio will be included as part of a valuable cache of extra, bonus spare parts that were obtained from a similar donor car by the original owner in order to have available matching spares if/when needed). Spare parts include an extra rear bumper, a set of interior armrests, covers for the rear storage compartments, door handles, Town & Country emblem, two extra hubcaps, other miscellaneous items as well as a roof rack; please see photo(s) in the online ad. The car was not ordered with the optional roof rack when new; however, an original and period/model correct (rather hard to find) rack will be provided with the car (bonus parts). It is in very, very nice shape and the stainless portions have already been polished. A set of the optional grab handles (which are mounted on either side of the tailgate window to help when entering the third seat) will also be included. Both grab handles, including the shorter stainless trim pieces (also polished) which are required for the conversion of the luggage rack will be included as well as all the necessary mounting hardware. While this car can easily be judged to be in the most excellent condition, a few very minor items will be mentioned such as slight gravel pitting, tiny scratches and associated paint spot touch up performed by the previous owner(s) in a couple of areas. Nothing really particular but gentle wear which is to be expected. Normal surface discoloration can be seen on the undercarriage as well as oil and grease film/residue below the drivetrain. Downsizing my small car collection in preparation for an out of state move and getting older are the reasons why the car is being offered for sale; I would keep it otherwise as it is truly an amazing classic automobile and worthy of any discriminating collection. This very low miles, true original classic automobile is in remarkable condition and comes with extra (very hard to find) parts. Good and clear Colorado title. It is reasonably offered at only $34,995.00; slightly negotiable with interested and appreciative buyer(s). Payment by wire through verifiable banking institution only. Please, call (303) 941-1765 if questions come to mind. Serious inquiries only. Absolutely NO text messages; text messages will NOT be replied to. No scammers, please. Car is being sold in as is - where is condition, with no guarantees or warranty. The car comes with a clear Colorado title and Bill of Sale. Transport/shipping is solely the responsibility of the buyer.
