1963 ½ Ford Galaxie “Slant Back” … An “R” Code without the “R”.

This is the Car…this is the Motor…this is the Drivetrain…that turned the tide for Ford (vs) Chevy’s mighty 409/425hp and Mopar’s Hemi’s that controlled NASCAR and the NHRA dragstrips in the early 60’s… Ford was getting blown away…so half way thru the model year Ford introduced a new car designated with the ‘R” code…this 427cu in/425hp car turned the tide for Ford…and as they say “The Rest is History”.
And…it can be yours…not for $100,000 but $57,500…It’s not an official “R” code but has everything except that little thin piece of metal affixed to the car with an “R”…plus this car has more features, and in my opinion, is better than a factory “R” code for pure enjoyment.
This car has AC that the factory didn’t offer…. with the compressor mounted where you can’t even see it from above…only from underneath…and blows COLD.
And…the factory didn’t offer Disc Brakes on the front with a Dual Master Cylinder which this car has…both added for safety and newly installed.
* The Black sides are straight as an arrow…car and paint were restored 8 years ago.
* Trim and Chrome are “as new” and maybe better…with all new correct Badging.
* The Red interior is impeccable.
* Underneath is nice and tidy as you would expect.
* Dual Carbs operate as they should… as does the smooth shifting 4-speed tranny.
* Exhaust has a nice sound…exiting through the original Cast Iron Factory Headers
* The correct, highly-sought-after Wheels, Caps and Tires cost $3,500 alone… comes with a color-matched set of fender skirts.
* Speedometer shows 36,088 miles … believed to be original.
