Representing the pinnacle of Oldsmobiles 442, the 1970 model year brought with it the fitment of a standard 455 V8. As if that werent enough, high-performance fans could check off the option box for the legendary W-30 package, which beefed up that already muscle-bound 455 with a hotter cam, a Cold Air hood with dual scoops, an aluminum intake manifold, a limited slip differential, lightweight red plastic front inner fenders and wide body-side and hood stripes. The 455 W-30 was underrated at 370 hp, though, given the cars ripping performance. We are proud to offer this incredible 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 convertible that was treated to a very high-quality, frame-off restoration. This is a real W-30 boasting a numbers-matching powertrain and all of its original body panels. That body is gorgeous with its special-order (as indicated by the - on the body tag) Sebring Yellow paint. That color looks fantastic with the black W-30 stripes and the car's 14-inch Super Stock I wheels fitted with old-school Goodyear Polyglas white-lettered tires. The various chrome and stainless-steel trim are brilliant as well and the underside is so clean that wed eat lasagna off of it. Note that this is one of just 264 W-30 convertibles made that year (168 automatics and 96 4-speeds). Swing open the door, settle in behind the optional Custom Sport four-spoke wheel and youll swear youve just stepped into a time machine, set it to 1970 and visited your towns Oldsmobile dealer to check out the hottest car in their showroom. The 442 features the optional Rally Pac instrumentation while the dash, door panels and upholstery are all impressively crisp and clean. The Hurst His and Hers shifter sprouts out of the console, flanked by those plush bucket seats while woodgrain accents add a bit of luxury, supporting the 442s standing as an upscale muscle car. This particular car was loaded with options, including power windows, power driver's seat, power door locks and even the ultra-rare power front seat-back latch releases. Under the scooped hood is the numbers-matching, factory-issued 455 V8 that looks as showroom fresh as the rest of the car. It sends its massive power through the also factory-issued TH400 automatic transmission with that special, optional Hurst gear selector that allows one to manually shift gears, ratchet-style, if the mood strikes. The power continues out to the Anti-Spin rear end with its 3.42 axle ratio. This muscle car also handles surprisingly well, thanks to its power steering and the 442s standard front/rear stabilizer bars and firmer suspension calibrations. Note that after its long-term storage, this classic muscle car was completely gone through in our shop to freshen it up and sort it out. We've just a few minor details left, such as sourcing/installing the correct air cleaner snorkel tube and detailing the exhaust manifolds. All in all, this refined beast runs and drives as if you continued that time travel trip with a thrilling test ride. The impressive and very extensive documentation that gs with the car includes a Rocket Report by renown Olds expert Stephen Minore that confirms the car's correctness and authenticity.
