1959 Chevrolet 3100 Apache NAPCO Pickup For Sale - Powr-Pak 4-Wheel Drive, Frame-Off Restoration LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1959 Chevrolet 3100 Apache NAPCO Pickup In the days following World War II, GM didn’t offer a factory-built 4-wheel drive pickup truck, but the demand was there. Northwestern Auto Parts Company, or NAPCO, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, engineered a solution known as the Powr-Pak 4x4 Conversion Kit. With the kit, a mechanic could convert a 2-wheel drive GM truck into 4-wheel drive in just a few hours with no welding and only a little cutting needed. This 1959 Chevrolet 3100 pickup outfitted with the NAPCO Powr-Pak 4-wheel drive sets apart from the rest. The stepside underwent a frame-off restoration with attention paid to original detail and equipment that puts the factory 4x4 in the pantheon of America's greatest pickup trucks. Distinctive dual headlight assemblies and chrome bumpers, rocket-shaped Chevrolet Apache and NAPCO Power-Pak badging, and a finished oak wood bed with chrome strips set the shapely 3100 apart from its slab-sided '60s successors. Historical accuracy continues under the hood and into the engine bay. The 235 CI Thriftmaster Special inline 6-cylinder engine is equipped with an oil bath air cleaner and single Rochester carburetor. The stovebolt sends its factory rated 135 HP and 195 lb-ft of grade-climbing torque through the matching numbers floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission with "granny" low first gear, and a 2-speed transfer case distributes power to all four wheels. The Flite-Ride cab offers comfort and durability with a full width vinyl bench seat, heater and defroster and rubber floor covering. Wraparound front windshield glass and rear window offer a panoramic view on and off the road. The iconic 4-wheeler rolls over any and all terrain on body color-keyed steel wheels with chrome trim rings and bowtie-logo hub caps. The matching side-mount spare ensures uninterrupted adventure.
