1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda

Description:

This is an ultra-rare, documented 1970 Hemi Cuda -- the first and only Black Hemi hardtop ever built. All documentation can be provided and Galen Govier will verify the car if you are serious. The car was previously sold to a Tennessee collector and is up for sale again.

Galen Govier documented the car with a visual inspection, documented its 4-owner history and verified its matching-numbers Hemi engine.

This car has undergone a full rotisserie restoration and was just finished.

An amazing history:

This car was purchased new in Marietta GA at Kelly Chrysler Plymouth by James Owens in 1970 for drag racing. James sold the car to Jack Blosser in Tennessee, a Hemi Challenger owner and avid Mopar drag racer. In 1971, the Challenger's motor blew up. Jack took the Hemi out of the Cuda and put in his Challenger.

In 1972, the car was brought back to Georgia and sold to William Nolte. The car sat in his garage in Kennesaw Georgia with the plan to restore the car to original condition, which never came to fruition. In 2004, a friend of ours, Mark, told a local avid Mopar collector about this car, a rolling chassis with 14,975 original miles in need of a full restoration. The collector purchased the car and decided to have it restored to concourse condition.

In searching for parts, he contacted Galen Govier about locating a date-coded Hemi engine. After three weeks, Galen called that he had located a 1970 Challenger at a Wisconsin car dealership. A visual inspection on the Wisconsin car revealed that it was Jack Blosser's '70 Challenger -- the one with Cuda's Hemi engine!

After long discussion, the collector was able to buy the Challenger and retrieve the engine from it. The Cuda finally had its original power plant back!

You may read this remarkable story in a magazine someday. If you do, now you know the car came from American Street Machines.
