The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is a limited-edition street car designed to dominate at the drag strip. Demons 170s' come off the assembly line sporting a rear fender wide-body kit, a drag-strip-tuned adaptive suspension, and an engine that makes a ludicrous 1,025 horsepower. This supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 is an evolution of the Hellcat's 707-pony HEMI but with beefed-up internals and a larger rotary-screw blower. The car rolls on four drag radials, with the rear wheels turning through the eight-speed ZF 8HP automatic which features the first transmission brake on a production car. While 100% street-legal, this purpose-built coupe was born to run 1,320 feet at a time and includes a laundry-list of go-fast drag-racing tricks. The heavenly SRT button accesses Drag Mode which disables the cabin A/C, routing its cooling power to the SRT Power Chiller, a device that drops the intake temperature for optimum performance. Prior to launch the factory line lock allows for a four-to-five second burnout to heat up the tires. In position at the staging lights activating the TransBrake preloads the driveshaft and transmission with torque. Hitting all the right buttons in the right sequence, and you will destroy all other production cars. Hold the revs at about 1700 rpm and bury the accelerator. The first launch is downright shocking. The TorRed Demon hits a peak acceleration of 1.80-gs' and will lift its front tires off the ground for a few feet.
