1969 Chevrolet Nova

Description:

Real-deal SS with extensive documentation. Matching 350/300 with close ratio 4-speed. High quality restoration in original colors. Rare factory A/C with bucket seats. Highly detailed engine and undercarriage. A very well done Nova thats also a blast to drive!

If youve been paying attention lately, the lowly Nova is quickly becoming one of the most popular Chevys on the market. Lightweight and packing serious firepower, these cool cars were a weapon when they were new and a ton of fun to drive today. Perhaps thats why values are skyrocketing on the best examples, and this stunning 1969 Chevrolet Nova SS definitely pegs the meter. Starting with an extremely well-documented car with its original engine and transmission, they gave it a body-off restoration in its special-order color combination of Dover White over Olympic Gold. From the restoration photos, it appears to be all original sheetmetal with no replacements, and the result is a laser-straight Nova that looks spectacular. Panel gaps are excellent, the doors close with a surprisingly solid sound, and all the trim lines up neatly. And speaking of the trim, all of it was either restored or replaced to make this Nova look like it should-in fact, were guessing it wasnt this nice in 1969. The white top provides a cool contrast and we like the low-key look, which makes this SS a bit of a sleeper. Maybe that was the entire point

Inside you get a black bucket seat interior with no frills beyond factory A/C-a very odd combination, but we have the original documents to prove thats how it was ordered. No console, no gauges (although there are aftermarket gauges under the dash), and crank windows. Everything inside was freshened during the restoration, including new seat covers, fresh carpets, reproduction door panels, and a new headliner that fits nicely. The correct SS steering wheel is complemented by a Hurst 4-speed cue ball shifter on the floor, and it frames the original gauges, which amount to just speedometer and fuel level. Remarkably, the car does have factory A/C, which is a very rare find, as well as an AM/FM radio which cost a staggering $239.10 (the entire SS package was only $280.20)! The only demerit we see inside is a scratch on the drivers seat cushion, but nothing more than a scratch-it isnt ripped. The dash pad is excellent, the carpets have rubber mats to protect them, and the back seat (which might be original) has likely not been used in decades. The trunk is correctly finished with spatter paint, as well as a full-sized spare and correct jack assembly.

The engine is a correct 350 cubic inch V8 making 300 horsepower, standard equipment in the SS. The stamping pad shows a matching partial VIN as well as a viable date code and an HA suffix code which denotes a 300 horsepower 350 cubic inch engine with 4-barrel carburetor and manual transmission. The engine was apparently fully rebuilt during the restoration, and that included a slightly more aggressive camshaft (you should hear this thing cackle!) and a set of long-tube headers, but thats about it for modifications. It was finished in proper Chevy Orange paint with OEM air cleaner, accessories, hoses, and accurate assembly line markings. Its just beautifully detailed. It starts easily and idles well with a bit of a performance lope, but nothing too radical. The 4-speed is a Muncie M21 close-ratio box, as specified on the original order form, and it feeds a robust 12-bolt rear axle with a Posi limited slip and 3.55 gears, so its nice to drive on the street. Power front disc brakes were included with the SS package, as was a special suspension, all of which were rebuilt during the restoration. The only other modification we can see is a Hayes bellhousing, just in case. As with the engine bay, accurate assembly line markings and stickers were applied to make it look just right. The chambered exhaust sounds wicked and theres a new gas tank out back. All the lines and hoses were new during the restoration, as well, and it sits on color-matched steel wheels with GR70-14 Firestone Wide Oval tires, as specified in the factory documentation.

Speaking of factory documentation, we have a lot of good stuff. First theres the original owners manual and Protect-O-Plate, which matches the cars VIN. We also have the original dealer order form and invoice, which, again, match the car and its specifications. Restoration and service receipts, some photos of the car during the restoration, and a before photo showing a complete, clean car are also part of the package.

This cool Nova checks all the right boxes. Rare? Yeah, kinda. Fun to drive? Absolutely. Great pedigree? Got that, too. No matter what youre looking to do with your next Nova, this neat little monster is ready to rock. Show it, drive it, whatever, it has the right ingredients to always show up strong. And perhaps thats what owning a vintage Nova SS is all about. Call today!
