1970 PORSCHE 917

1970 Porsche 917-032 Porsche developed the 917 sports prototype racer to exploit the regulations regarding the construction of 5-liter sports cars. Powered by a flat-12 engine which was progressively enlarged from 4.5 to 5.0 liters, the 917 was introduced in 1969. Extensive testing and continuous technological development resulted in an iconic sports racing car that dominated the World Championship of Makes sports-car racing in 1970 and 1971. In 1970 it gave Porsche its first overall win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (reaching speeds of 240mph), a feat it would repeat in 1971. It was chiefly responsible for Porsche winning the World Championship of Makes in 1970 and 1971. Porsche went on to develop the 917 for Can-Am racing, culminating in the twin-turbocharged 917/30 which proved dominant in the role. Porsche drivers would win the Can-Am championship in 1972 and 1973; 917 drivers also won the European Interserie championship every year from 1969 to 1975. This example, number 32 of 37 built, served as a factory development car to evaluate the aerodynamic impact of different body configurations and was driven by such 917 legends as Vic Elford, Jo Siffert and Derek Bell. 917-032 was lent by the Porsche factory to Solar Productions to be used by Steve McQueen in the making of the movie, Le Mans. It is accompanied by its restoration and ownership history back to the original Bill of Sale, signed by Helmut Bott, head of Porsche Competition, to its first owner, Porsche factory driver, Willi Kauhsen, who embarked on a complete mechanical and cosmetic frame-up restoration. Spare parts include: - Complete set of original unrestored brake calipers - One short tail rear body section (restored) - One front bonnet (restored) - Tachometer - Four original wheels - One rear fin-tail body section (unrestored)

1965 CHEVROLET CORVETTE

New to our inventory is this high quality frame off restoration 65 Corvette Roadster. In 1965 Chevy further cleaned up style-wise and was muscled up with the addition of an all-new braking system and larger power plants. 1965 styling alterations were subtle, confined to a smoothed-out hood now devoid of scoop indentations, a trio of working vertical exhaust vents in the front fenders that replaced the previous nonfunctional horizontal ""speedlines,"" restyled wheel covers and rocker-panel moldings, and minor interior trim revisions. The 1965 Corvette Sting Ray became ferocious with the mid-year debut of the ""Big-Block"" 396 cu in (6,490 cc) engine producing 425 hp (317 kW). Ultimately, this spelled the end for the Rochester fuel injection system, as the carbureted 396ci/425hp option cost $292.70 to the fuel injected 327ci/375hp's $538.00. Few buyers could justify $245 more for 50 hp (37 kW) less, even if the FI cars offered optional bigger brakes not available on carbureted models. Only 771 fuel injected cars were built in 1965, Chevrolet discontinued the option. It would be 18 years until it returned. This was the last year available for fuel injection - introduced in 1957 which is what put Corvette on the map in the world of racing. Up for sale is our beautiful 1965 Chevy Corvette roadster, painted in a silver pearl paint, over burgundy leather, this was a high quality frame-off restoration. The vehicle is fuel injected, has the original knock-off wheels, a teakwood steering wheel and tinted glass. The car has a 327/375hp V8 engine, The instruments are flat black, and flat faced to represent an aircraft. 1965 was the last year fuel injection was offered. The paint is Silver Pearl code ""QQ"" with a gorgeous burgundy interior. Come and see this beautiful example in our showroom or call for an appointment.

Price: $129,500.
